This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer - AI Resilience & Security Enhancements (Contract) based in United Kingdom.
This is a high-impact contract opportunity for a senior security professional to strengthen the resilience and protection of a cloud-native payments platform.
You will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced cloud security improvements across critical infrastructure.
The role focuses on enhancing security architecture, operational resilience, governance, and secure engineering practices.
You will collaborate with platform, engineering, and security teams to deliver scalable solutions aligned with regulatory and industry standards.
Your expertise will help secure modern cloud environments, software delivery pipelines, and AI-enabled engineering capabilities.
This position offers the opportunity to influence security strategy within a globally distributed, technology-driven environment.
Accountabilities
- Assess existing cloud security environments to identify vulnerabilities, control gaps, and opportunities to improve resilience and security maturity.
- Design and implement scalable security controls across cloud infrastructure, ensuring strong protection and operational reliability.
- Strengthen cloud platform security, including perimeter protection, workload security, and infrastructure-level controls.
- Improve CI/CD security through secure build processes, automated security testing, deployment governance, and artifact integrity management.
- Enhance software supply chain security by implementing dependency management, container security, vulnerability remediation, provenance tracking, and signing controls.
- Improve identity and access management practices through least-privilege models, RBAC implementation, privileged access controls, and secure operational processes.
- Support secure adoption and governance of AI-enabled engineering capabilities, including data protection, auditability, and operational resilience measures.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud security architecture, secure development practices, and security engineering standards.
- Create high-quality technical documentation, including architecture designs, implementation plans, operational procedures, and security evidence.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform, and security teams to deliver production-ready improvements using structured and low-risk change management practices.

Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and implementing cloud security solutions within large-scale cloud-native environments.
- Strong hands-on experience securing public cloud platforms, with AWS expertise preferred.
- Deep knowledge of cloud security architecture, identity and access management, workload protection, and infrastructure security.
- Proven experience securing CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of software supply chain security practices, including dependency management, artifact signing, provenance, and vulnerability management.
- Experience implementing least-privilege access models and role-based access controls.
- Knowledge of security monitoring, risk assessment, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working within highly regulated, business-critical, or production environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Excellent technical documentation and solution design capabilities.
- Experience with AI or machine learning security controls, cryptographic solutions, key management, Infrastructure as Code, or policy-as-code tooling is a plus.
- Familiarity with financial services, payment platforms, operational resilience frameworks, or relevant security certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, or CCSP is advantageous.
