Location: London (Hybrid)
Contract: 12-Month Contract

Our client is a leading global alternative investment and asset management firm with a significant technology presence across Europe, North America, and Asia. Technology sits at the core of the organisation's investment and operational strategy, supporting critical business functions across trading, risk, operations, finance, and client services. The firm continues to invest heavily in modernising and expanding its technology platforms and is seeking experienced software engineers who can contribute to both strategic transformation initiatives and business-critical system development.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior C#/.NET Engineer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for developing and supporting key applications across a global asset management environment. This position combines hands-on software engineering, solution design, stakeholder engagement, and production support responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering enhancements to business-critical platforms covering areas such as trade processing, operational workflows, risk management, reporting, and investment operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade C#/.NET applications.
- Lead the delivery of end-to-end software solutions from requirements gathering through to production deployment.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategic platform enhancements and modernisation initiatives.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and high-performance applications within a complex financial environment.
- Support and enhance existing production systems while driving long-term technical improvements.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practice initiatives.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide senior-level support for critical applications.
- Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, monitoring, and overall software quality.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers where required.
Required Experience
- Extensive commercial experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
- Strong experience delivering software within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to own projects and deliver business-critical solutions independently.
- Excellent understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and modern development practices.
- Strong SQL Server experience including query optimisation, database design, and performance tuning.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders and translating requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, testing strategies, and code quality standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- Experience building distributed or microservice-based applications.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
- Previous experience within asset management, hedge funds, investment management, or financial services environments.
- Experience supporting high-availability, business-critical production systems.
