Job Description
Location: Forth Ports Ltd, 100 Ocean Drive
Forth Ports is one of the UK's leading and most progressive port operator groups, playing a vital role in connecting the UK with Europe and global markets. As a multimodal port owner and operator, we deliver innovative, high-quality port services that support a wide range of industries.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial Team in Scotland, based in either Leith or Grangemouth.
This newly created role reflects our continued growth and increasing focus on the renewables sector. It offers an exciting opportunity to shape and develop the position as the business evolves, while supporting strategic commercial decisions across our key markets.
This is a pivotal time for both our business and the wider industry. Join Forth Ports and play a key role in supporting the growth of a more sustainable future.
About The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Team, you will provide commercial analysis and insight with a particular focus on opportunities within the renewables market. You will deliver data-driven analysis, financial modelling, and market intelligence to support business development, investment decisions, and strategic planning.
The role will also play a key part in identifying new commercial opportunities by leveraging advanced data analytics across our key markets. Using digital simulation modelling and Power BI, you will help develop winning tender proposals, influence strategic decision-making, and maximise existing revenue streams.
Working closely with our Business Development Managers, you will support projects including tenders, commercial submissions, contract management, quotation development, and aspects of key account management.
Occasional travel to other Forth Ports locations, industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings will be required, along with providing wider support to the Commercial Team as business needs dictate.
This role also offers excellent opportunities for professional development in business, economics, finance, and data analytics, with training provided where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and interpret commercial, financial, and operational data to support business cases and decision-making across key markets.
- Monitor developments within the UK renewables and wider energy sectors, identifying emerging opportunities and commercial risks.
- Develop and maintain commercial models, forecasts, dashboards, and reports to support pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and investment decisions.
- Produce insightful analysis using Power BI and digital simulation modelling to support both tactical and strategic business initiatives aligned with our five-year growth plan.
- Assist in preparing commercial proposals, tender submissions, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support Business Development Managers with contract management, quotation preparation, tender activity, and aspects of key account management.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Commercial, Operations, and Finance to ensure robust analysis informs business planning.
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives across the Port's key market portfolio.
- Prepare regular management reports and provide ad hoc commercial analysis as required.
- Represent Forth Ports at client meetings, conferences, and industry events, building and maintaining strong commercial relationships.
- Organise and coordinate stakeholder events, presentations, and engagement activities relating to key market sectors.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
