Senior Commercial Business Development Manager

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development professional to join a fast-growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) supporting the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. This role offers the chance to drive commercial growth across Europe while partnering with innovative biotech and pharma companies developing biologics, cell and gene therapies, vaccines, and other advanced therapies.
You'll play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, building strategic customer relationships, and leading complex commercial negotiations from initial engagement through to contract execution. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong hunter mentality, an established biotech network, and a passion for helping bring innovative therapies to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies across designated European territories to achieve revenue targets.
- Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities across a broad CDMO service portfolio.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with biotech and pharmaceutical clients, acting as a trusted commercial partner.
- Develop country-specific market penetration strategies and manage a healthy sales pipeline.
- Lead commercial discussions, opportunity assessments, contract negotiations, and strategic partnership agreements.
- Manage key strategic accounts while identifying opportunities to expand existing business.
- Collaborate with internal scientific, technical, and operational teams to deliver tailored customer solutions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and competitive market intelligence.
- Represent the business at industry conferences, networking events, and customer meetings across Europe.
- Travel up to 50% as required to support customer engagement and business growth.

- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline (PhD advantageous).
- Minimum of 5 years' commercial experience within a CDMO, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment.
- Proven track record of winning new business, achieving sales targets, and closing high-value commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of biologics, cell & gene therapy, vaccines, or advanced therapeutic development and manufacturing.
- Established network within the European biotech and pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable.
- Excellent commercial negotiation, relationship-building, and account management skills.
- Strong knowledge of the biopharmaceutical landscape and evolving market trends.
- Fluent English communication skills; additional European languages are advantageous.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Europe (up to 50%).
