Senior Commercial Manager – Energy Business (Costain)

About the Role
As part of our drive for sustainable growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our team. You will play a key role in the commercial management of major infrastructure projects, ensuring:
- Optimal contract recovery
- Robust financial management
- Strict adherence to company procedures
The Senior Commercial Manager will support the Head of Commercial Director in:
- Managing resources
- Crafting succession planning
A proficient, commercially astute professional with deep and broad experience, capable of:
- Identifying and analysing commercial risks
- Developing strategies to mitigate risks
- Taking ownership and responsibility
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring governance compliance
- Adhering to contract-specific requirements
- Providing commercial leadership across projects

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Commercial Director in succession planning
- Manage resource allocation effectively
- Provide strategic commercial insights to inform decision-making
- Develop, review, and apply best practices in commercial procedures
- Lead the interpretation of policy into actionable operational plans
- Oversee the implementation of governance frameworks
- Ensure alignment of company policies with commercial fulfilment
- Foster strong communication and customer engagement
- Collaborate with commercial teams to motivate, persuade, and lead
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong commercial acumen with decades of relevant experience
- Track record of risk analysis and strategic execution
- Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate policy into action and develop improved processes
- Customer-facing mentality with an emphasis on persuasion and delivery
- Proficient in contract compliance and governance frameworks
