Job Opportunity: Commercial Manager (Fusion & Modular Nuclear Business Unit)
🚀 At a Glance 🚀 Join us to shape the future of global nuclear energy! We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead and optimise the commercial success of nuclear new build & SMR programmes. You will play a pivotal role in managing high-value, complex contracts—bridging teams, regulators, clients, and supply chain partners—to deliver commercial alignment with programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Commercial Lifecycle Leadership
- Oversee commercial activities from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and procurement through execution to final account settlement.
- Ensure rigorous governance, risk management, and value optimisation across entire nuclear projects.

Contract Administration & Risk Mitigation
- Manage compensation events, change control, and claims in line with NEC (New Engineering Contract) or equivalent frameworks (NEC3/NEC4).
- Develop claims avoidance and resolution strategies to safeguard project value and schedules.

Strategic Procurement & Supplier Engagement
- Lead or contribute to procurement strategies that align with project timelines and risk allocation.
- Interface with Tier 1 contractors and nuclear supply chain partners; ensure optimal sourcing, packaging, and commercial structuring.
- Allocate and monitor commercial risks and opportunities, including regulatory hurdles and contractor performance.

Reporting, Analysis & Dispute Resolution
- Support monthly commercial reporting, performance analysis, and remedial action planning.
- Mediate contractual disputes with suppliers and contractors effectively.

Collaborative & Strategic Decision-Making
- Work closely with engineering, project controls, legal, and procurement teams to drive integration and delivery excellence.
- Provide commercial insights for bid development (pricing, risk allocation, contract strategy).

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

Essential Criteria
- Proven expertise in commercial management for nuclear new build, SMRs, or similar highly regulated programmes (e.g., infrastructure, defence).
- Deep NEC contract experience (NEC3/NEC4) in high-stakes environments.
- Track record in high-value contract administration, including Tier 1 supplier management.
- Skills in cost forecasting, commercial reporting, and risk/claims management.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline (desirable).
Core Competencies
- Commercial acumen with nuclear regulatory& regulatory diligence able to drive strategic decisions.
- Experience in large-scale, complex programmes (power generation, infrastructure).
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead commercial strategies.
- Analytical rigor with a focus on risk mitigation and value optimisation.
- Collaborative leadership and exceptional delivery mindset.
