Senior Commercial Manager – Leadership Role in Infrastructure & Construction
Referment is partnering with a leading engineering and construction business to appoint a Senior Commercial Manager to support the delivery of large-scale infrastructure and structural projects.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving commercial performance, managing project financials, and leading high-performing commercial teams across complex builds. Our client is currently focusing recruitment on major projects located in the South West and London.
The Role
You will take ownership of the commercial function across major projects, ensuring robust financial control, contractual compliance, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors across multiple projects
- Overseeing CVRs, cost forecasting, and financial reporting
- Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Providing strategic commercial input during tendering and delivery phases
- Handling contractual matters, including claims, negotiations, and dispute resolution
- Driving continuous improvement across commercial processes

What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a stable career history with a proven track record of delivering projects through to completion. We are looking for:
- An essential background working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
- Strong hands-on experience across UK-based projects, specifically within the civils, structures, or concrete space
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial management within the construction industry
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity
- Proven experience managing large-scale projects and commercial teams
- Strong knowledge of contracts, reporting, and financial controls
- A commitment to long-term project success and professional stability

Qualifications
We value both academic qualifications and practical, on-the-job expertise. We are open to candidates from various backgrounds:
- Degree, HND, HNC, or BTEC in Quantity Surveying or a similar field
- Professional membership such as RICS (MRICS) or working towards accreditation is a plus
- Equivalent hands-on experience and relevant project-based expertise will be equally considered
Working Setup
This is a site-based position, requiring a presence on-site 5 days per week. Occasional travel to office locations may be required, in line with project demands.
