Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Birmingham, Bristol or Guildford Contract Length: 6 Months Day Rate: £750 – £850 per day (Inside IR35)


About the Role

Join a high-impact Major Projects environment where your expertise will help shape key infrastructure outcomes. As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strong commercial performance across a portfolio of projects, influencing strategic decisions while working closely with operational and supply chain partners. This is an opportunity to lead, collaborate and drive value in a complex and rewarding setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial and contract management across projects, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations
  • Support investment decisions, budget planning, and cost control across a diverse project portfolio
  • Provide expert advice on contract administration, performance data, and commercial improvements
  • Oversee and support procurement activities, including tender reviews and contract documentation
  • Analyse contract and cost performance, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Represent the commercial function in regional meetings and decision-making forums
  • Lead and support commercial teams, providing guidance, mentoring, and direction
  • Contribute to forecasting and financial planning processes alongside operations teams
  • Champion safe working practices and promote a positive wellbeing culture

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Strong experience in commercial, contract management, and post-contract management within complex projects
  • Background in Quantity Surveying
  • Ability to lead and develop teams, including matrix management responsibility
  • Confident communicator who can influence decisions and align stakeholders
  • Skilled in analysing complex information and translating it into clear actions
  • Knowledge of NEC forms of contract and their practical application
  • Experience supporting procurement and tender evaluation processes
  • Strong commercial awareness with a focus on achieving value for money
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Professional qualification such as RICS, ICE, or equivalent
  • Commitment to high standards of safety, integrity, and performance
