Senior Commercial Manager

Hughes and Salvidge is one of the world's leading demolition and decommissioning companies, established in 1964, with a reputation for Health and Safety, Quality and Innovation. Within our UK based team, we are recruiting a Senior Commercial Manager to enhance our ability to service our clients.

Location: Primary region will be along the M3 Corridor and the Head Office in Fareham.

Salary: Competitive.

Key Requirements/Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Significant experience in a senior commercial role within the construction industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, JCT and bespoke contracts.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale demolition, construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills.
  • Experience leading and developing commercial teams.

Job Description

  • Lead the commercial function of the business. Be the primary point of contact for commercial matters to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake contract reviews at tender stage, negotiate contract amendments.
  • Provide tender governance, understanding and assessing risk to the business.
  • Manage quantity surveying requirements across the business, provide guidance and support to Project Managers, where required provide external QS resource to assist on projects.
  • Oversee monthly reporting of works in progress, design and implement CVR process.
  • Oversee and assist with contract change control.
  • Provide training (Internal and External) to project management staff on commercial topics.
  • Prepare Activity Schedules, Forecasts and Applications for Payment.
  • Prepare Sub-Contracts, flowing down terms from Main Contracts where applicable.
  • Lead the commercial response to disputes, claims, and recovery actions.

Driving License and willingness to travel to projects will be required. Primary region will be along the M3 Corridor and the Head Office in Fareham. Expectation of three days/week in Fareham with the remainder of the week spent travelling to sites, projects, tenders as required but there will be autonomy to manage time as the individual sees fit.
