Senior Commercial Manager
Commercial Manager – Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive success in nuclear new build and SMR (Small Modular Reactor) programmes. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee commercial activities from contract inception to final account, ensuring robust governance, risk management, and value optimisation.
You will work at the core of multi-disciplinary project teams, interfacing with clients, regulators, Tier 1 contractors, and supply chain partners to deliver commercially robust solutions that align with Regulatory expectations and programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead commercial delivery across the full contract lifecycle, from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through procurement, execution, and final accounting.
- Manage contract administration, compensation events, change control, and claims (aligned with NEC/NEC4 or equivalent contract forms).
- Develop and implement claims avoidance and resolution strategies to safeguard project value.
- Deploy procurement strategies that align with programme delivery schedules.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Oversee key supplier and strategic partner interfaces, fostering collaborative, cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure optimal packaging, sourcing, and commercial structuring to maximise delivery efficiency and risk allocation.
- Monitor and manage commercial risks, including scope maturity gaps, regulatory approvals, and contractor performance.
Commercial & Financial Oversight
- Lead monthly reporting, performance analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Resolve commercial disputes with contractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with engineering, project controls, legal, and procurement teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Provide commercial input to bid development, including pricing decisions, risk allocation, and contract strategy for new build and SMR opportunities.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven commercial management experience within nuclear new build, SMR, or similarly regulated infrastructure sectors.
- Strong expertise in NEC3/NEC4 contracts and commercial dispute resolution in complex, high-value environments.
- Track record in managing Tier 1 supplier interfaces and large-scale contracts.
- Cost management, forecasting, and commercial reporting proficiency.
- Risk, change, and claims management expertise in major programmes.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Healthy commercial acumen with the ability to operate in stringent nuclear regulatory frameworks.
- Experience on large-scale programmes (e.g., power generation, infrastructure, defence).
- Influential leadership abilities to guide senior stakeholder decisions.
- Analytical focus with a structured approach to risk management and value optimisation.
- Collaborative mindset driving outcome-focused delivery.
