Senior Commercial Manager – Sports Medicine (NHS Account Focus) – Smith+Nephew

This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact commercial role within our Sports Medicine business.
About the Role
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of strategically critical NHS accounts across the South East and South West of the UK, driving growth, shaping long-term partnerships, and navigating complex NHS contracting cycles. This field-based role offers the chance to directly influence regional strategy and contribute to some of the most impactful commercial opportunities in the organisation.
Ideal candidates should be located around the M4 corridor and neighbouring regions.
Key Responsibilities
Account Leadership & Growth
- Operate at the core of complex, high-value NHS partnerships, leading the commercial agenda across priority Trusts
- Identify and unlock commercial opportunities within key accounts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders
- Guide account conversations from initial engagement through contract negotiation and agreement
Regional & Strategic Influence
- Shape regional NHS strategy and ensure alignment with high-stakes contracting cycles
- Defined how the business approaches upcoming opportunities, aligning objectives with regional outcomes

Tender & Proposal Development
- Support the development of responses to high-profile tenders and framework agreements
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver compelling, value-driven proposals
Commercial Capability Building
- Contribute to organisational capability by sharing insights and fostering knowledge across the commercial team
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working within the NHS or healthcare commercial environment
- Strong track record of:
- Leading complex negotiations and closing high-value deals
- Navigating tender processes and drafting competitive proposals
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and shaping long-term account strategies
- Field-based opportunity: Up to 75% travel within your allocated region
