Senior Commercial Manager – Sports Medicine
Location: Field-based within the South East & South West of the UK (primarily M4 corridor and neighbouring regions) Travel: Up to 75% field-based within your region Contract Type: Permanent Employer: Smith+Nephew – Technology that takes the limits off living
About the Role
This is a high-impact commercial opportunity within Smith+Nephew’s Sports Medicine business, where you’ll take ownership of strategically critical NHS accounts across the South East and South West. As the Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll drive regional growth, shape long-term partnerships and navigate key NHS contracting cycles—directly influencing our most important commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management
- Lead commercial strategy across priority NHS Trusts, driving account growth and partnership development.
- Identify, unlock and realise high-value opportunities within key accounts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders—from initial engagement through contract negotiation and final agreement.
Tender & Framework Agreements
- Support high-profile tender responses and framework agreements, collaborating cross-functionally to develop value-driven proposals.
- Shape commercial approaches for upcoming opportunities, ensuring competitive positioning while delivering meaningful outcomes for patients.

Regional Strategy & Commercial Capability
- Help define our strategy for key NHS contracting cycles, ensuring alignment with regional objectives.
- Contribute insights and best practices to strengthen the wider commercial team’s approach to the NHS landscape.
What You’ll Need
To excel in this role, you’ll need to balance strategic thinking with strong execution while earning trust at the senior decision-maker level.
- Proven NHS or healthcare commercial experience in leading complex, high-value partnerships.
- A track record of successful deal closures, including tender negotiations.
- Expertise in developing compelling commercial proposals for high-stakes procurement processes.
- Exceptional stakeholder influencing skills and the ability to drive long-term account strategies.
