Senior Commercial Strategy Lead – Financial Services & Insurance

About the Role

As Adyen continues to expand and deepen its market presence in Financial Services & Insurance, we are seeking a senior team member to help build and lead our global commercial strategy for this vertical, with a focus on our banking license markets (US, UK & EU). This role will play a critical role in driving Adyen’s growth objectives by leveraging deep understanding of the financial services industry to accelerate new business acquisition and strengthen existing client relationships.


Key Responsibilities

Market Growth & Strategy Execution

  • Lead growth, adoption, and penetration of Adyen’s services globally within Financial Services and Insurance.
  • Focus on significantly increasing market share and building our position in this priority industry.

Go-To-Market & Commercial Strategy

  • Partner with Product Marketing to shape and communicate the global go-to-market strategy for key product areas.
  • Translate strategy into actionable plans targeted towards Sales, Account Management, and Partnerships teams.

Sales Leadership & Account Expansion

  • Work closely with regional Heads of Sales and their vertical teams to execute the Financial Services & Insurance market strategy.
  • Identify and pursue key new logos, drive prospecting efforts to identify needs and adapt value propositions to support sales teams.
  • Deal closure and account penetration through tailored strategies to meet prospect expectations.

Team & Segment Leadership

  • Develop and refine customer segmentation, breaking down markets into sub-verticals/countries, focusing on high-potential segments.
  • Prioritise opportunities effectively to ensure maximised impact.

Value Proposition & Market Positioning

  • Craft product-specific value propositions that highlight Adyen’s differentiation within Financial Services & Insurance industries.

Market & Customer Insight

  • Source and synthesise insights from the global Financial Services & Insurance customer base and internal sales teams.
  • Identify market gaps, product opportunities, and new solutions to expand strategic horizons.

Collaborative Development & External Advocacy

  • Partner with Product and Compliance teams to develop and launch new solutions aligned with market needs.
  • Develop and maintain internal/external educational materials and collateral for Financial Services and Insurance markets.
  • Serve as thought leadership ambassadors externally, driving Adyen’s authority in the sector.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on global marketing, PR, and events strategies to support growth in the sector.

Requirements

Experience & Background

  • 5-7+ years in commercial strategy or business consulting within tech, preferably financial technology.
  • Preference for those with experience in Enterprise/Platform business models.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Financial Services & Insurance, including trends, competition, operating models, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Proven success driving financial success in leading Financial Services or Insurance institutions.
  • Global and culturally diverse work experience, acclimatised to fast-chaced environments.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with C-level executives in financial services and insurance.
  • Strong strategic mindset, with demonstrated ability to execute strategies that drive results.
  • Capability to support sales teams with product enablement and driving commercial impact.
  • Willingness to travel and work collaboratively in teams.
