About BAE Systems

Join BAE Systems and contribute to pioneering defence, aerospace and security solutions that shape a safer future. Your expertise will drive innovation from the ocean depths to outer space, shaping continuous at-sea deterrence for the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical (Propulsion), you’ll oversee critical commissioning of mechanical propulsion systems on the Dreadnought submarines—an introductory-generation fleet for the Royal Navy. Your role spans:

  • Safety-driven commissioning of complex propulsion systems under stringent regulations.
  • Collaboration with engineering teams, naval build operations, the Royal Navy, and the Ministry of Defence.
  • Representation at Factory Acceptance Tests, Contractor Sea Trials, and overseas exigencies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning per company protocols, legal standards, and legislative compliance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant system integration.
  • Produce, review, and maintain technical documentation (commissioning plans, test procedures, reports).
  • Mentor junior engineers within mechanical propulsion domains.
  • Document and manage commissioning records in line with security/vetting requirements.
  • Deliver on-time, high-quality outcomes while adhering to project deadlines.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
