Commodity Buyer – Project Fit-out & SSD Locations (Construction Procurement)
What To Expect
The EMEA Construction Procurement team selects and acquires goods and services to complete the construction and fit-out of Tesla’s Sales, Service, and Delivery (SSD) locations across EMEA, Africa and the Middle East. The team is responsible for the entire procurement lifecycle, including:
- Pre-qualification of vendors
- Compliance oversight
- Tendering
- Project award
By leveraging in-house procurement tools, we drive efficiencies and strategic sourcing to enhance cost-effectiveness.
As the commodity buyer, you will join the Construction Procurement team in an inaugural position—a first-of-its-kind role. Your responsibilities include supporting internal stakeholders in procuring goods and services essential to the fit-out of Tesla’s SSD locations. You will lead in sourcing, negotiating and managing supplier relationships to ensure: ✅ Compliance ✅ Efficient supply chains ✅ Best-in-market pricing
What You’ll Do
Sourcing
- Develop localization-aligned sourcing strategies to meet business and regional market needs.
- Own and execute RFQs for assigned commodities/services (pre-qualification, quotation review, contract negotiation and management).
- Analyze pricing and cost breakdowns to ensure cost-effective options are delivered.
- Perform detailed bid analyses, ensuring identical scope inclusion across all bids, then make and present recommendations for contract awards.

Data Analysis
- Create sourcing plans from scratch based on historical data and identified opportunities.
- Analyze spend data to uncover:
- Supplier consolidation potential
- Contract creation opportunities
- Economies of scale
- Monitor market trends, reviewing supply and demand challenges and opportunities.
- Identify cost-saving and cost-avoiding measures.
Contract Management
- Adhere to in-house procurement policies for:
- Requests for sourcing
- Sourcing & contracting approvals (using tools such as CLM, ERP systems, and RFQ tools)
- Ensure compliance with contract renewals and drive retendering to maximize value.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and cooperation on assigned commodities.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to deliver:
- Supplied goods/services
- Contributions to Tesla’s portfolio expansion
- Demonstrate strong supplier relationship management for onboarded suppliers.

What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field—or equivalent experience with exceptional ability.
- Strong senior experience in:
- Supply chain
- Procurement/purchasing
- (Construction procurement experience ideal)
Key Attributes
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different stages and stakeholders.
- Open-minded self-starter with agility to adapt, improvise and problem-solve.
- Proven track record of working independently to drive change and deliver value.
- Analytical mindset with:
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Robust judgment skills
- Ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvements.
- Proven supplier and stakeholder relationship management.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Technical & Language Proficiencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written English communication.
- Ideally, proficiency in another European language.
