Job Introduction
Job Title: Senior Community Care Officer
Starting Salary: £34,434 progressing to £37,280 per annum (pro rata for part-time) – pay award pending
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Hertfordshire
Contract Type: Permanent
Directorate: Adult Care Services

Through some of our fantastic development opportunities, our staff have been able to complete sponsored degree courses (dependent on need and entry requirement criteria) and have gone on to become social workers or occupational therapists.
Available Opportunities:
1. Older Peoples Team West (Prevention of Admission Team) – Hemel Hempstead
- Contract: 37 hours per week | Fixed Term
- Focus: Supporting people aged 65+, or those under 65 with dementia, living at home in south and west Hertfordshire.
- Provides same or next-day support to help avoid hospital or residential care admission.
- Assists when carers are unavailable, health deteriorates, or short-term respite is needed.
- Promotes independence and reduces long-term care dependency.
- Shorter-term interventions focused on urgent resolution.

2. Adult Safeguarding Team – Stevenage
- Contract: 37 hours per week | Permanent

About The Role
You will need to engage with individuals requiring social care support in compliance with the:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
We seek Senior Community Care Officers skilled in:
- Client engagement and promoting inclusive, self-directed care.
- Maximising universal services while ensuring positive wellbeing.
- Demonstrating resilience, adaptability, collaboration, and reflection.
An ideal candidate is imaginative, flexible, and team-oriented, focused on improving lives within the Connected Lives Framework.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant work experience: Paid or voluntary in social/healthcare within a community setting.
- Driving licence + mobility: Ability to travel across Hertfordshire.
- Qualification: Accredited RQF Level 4 Social Care qualification (or equivalent). If missing, you’ll need to gain this within 1 year (apprenticeship routes available).
- Minimum educational requirement: GCSE/O Levels (A-C) or equivalent (grade 1 CSE) in Maths & English.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge
- Familiarity with safeguarding (Care Act 2014).
- Experience with additional social care practices.
