NHS Fife Older Adult Community Mental Health Team – Central Fife

The service has a rare and exciting opportunity that has arisen within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Central Fife for Senior Community Mental Health Nurses. We would like to welcome applications from highly motivated individuals, with a background in working with older adults with functional and organic conditions, to join our team. These posts will be based at Whyteman's Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Role Requirements

In applying for this role, you will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The registered applicant will be expected to have knowledge of, and experience in, dealing with issues relating to the health and wellbeing of older adults with mental illness. They will be able to engage with patients to help work on their recovery and personal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confident individuals who have the skills to deal with challenging situations, on their own, in patient’s homes or Care Homes across Central Fife.
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of the diversity of the workload.
  • Hold their own caseload and be expected to complete mental health assessments and implement and evaluate person-centred individualised care plans.

Role Expectations

As a Senior Community Mental Health Nurse you will:

  • Assist with the supervision and development of junior staff members within the team.
  • Support the Nurse Team Lead with delegated managerial tasks.
  • Possess excellent team working and leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and use their own initiative.
  • Work autonomously for certain aspects of the post, however, will be fully supported within a multi-disciplinary team.

Additional Requirements

  • Provide Assessor/Supervisor role for Student Nurses.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and be adaptable to change along with evidence of continual personal development.
  • Be proficient with IT systems such as Microsoft Office and Morse.

Working Pattern

  • The service operates within office hours Monday to Friday 0900-1700, although there may be the addition of weekend working in future.
