Senior Company Secretarial Assistant

Full time, Permanent

Location – London (hybrid 3 days a week in London office)

Closing date: 20 August 2026

About the role:

As Senior Company Secretarial Assistant, you'll play a key role within Drax's Group Secretariat team, supporting both subsidiary governance activities and developing a broad range of plc governance responsibilities. Reporting to the Deputy Company Secretary-PLC and working closely with the wider Secretariat team, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of governance in a FTSE-listed environment, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their company secretarial career.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be encouraged to roll your sleeves up and get involved. You'll take ownership of subsidiary governance activities while also supporting high-profile plc projects, including the Annual Report, AGM, UK Listing Rules compliance, UK Corporate Governance Code requirements and employee share plans.

You'll join a small supportive team where you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, build relationships with senior stakeholders and gain exposure to the full governance cycle of a large listed organisation. Study support and ongoing professional development are also available to help you continue your growth.

Who we’re looking for:

We're looking for someone who has already started their Company Secretarial career and is keen to broaden their experience. You might be CGI part-qualified or fully qualified, but most importantly you'll be ambitious, detail-oriented and excited by the opportunity to roll your sleeves up and learn. Previous plc experience isn't essential – we're happy to consider candidates looking to make their first move into a listed company environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
