Practice Lead – Compensation and Benefits

About the Role
The Practice Lead – Compensation and Benefits will manage compensation structures, incentives, benefits, and related processes across multiple European countries for both local and expatriate employees. This role involves strategy design, data-driven analysis, stakeholder engagement, and change management to ensure competitiveness and compliance while leading initiatives that create business value.
Role Responsibilities
- Design compensation structures, models, allowances, salary ranges, and long & short-term incentive programs across multiple European countries for local hires and expats
- Conduct budgeting, financial impact analysis, and scenario planning to evaluate optimal program solutions, with a focus on digitisation for streamlined implementation
- Support union, CBA, or Worker Council negotiations in the region
- Benchmark market intelligence to periodically review compensation programs and recommend competitive enhancements
- Ensure compliance with current labour laws and regulations internationally
- Develop and deploy world-class compensation programs to drive organisational performance, governance, and employee experience
- Lead large-scale programme/change initiatives impacting the broader organisation
- Drive strategic initiatives within the Compensation & Benefits (C&B) practice, including M&A and transition deal negotiations in the region
- Escalation management: Independently resolve complex compensation disputes and uphold optimal resolutions
- Develop and report KPIs/metrics on the effectiveness of managed compensation programmes and processes
- Engage internal stakeholders and user groups to gather feedback and refine programme designs
- Design targeted educational programmes and communication materials to improve awareness of compensation offerings
- Manage regional benefits strategy, including:
- Benefits benchmarking
- Implementation and execution of benefits
- Vendor and compliance management
- Oversee a team of junior resources supporting Europe-wide C&B operations

Qualifications
Experience:
- 9–12 years in compensation and benefits, with multi-country operations or consulting experience in total rewards
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills – proficiency in complex data handling, spreadsheets, and databases for accurate evaluations
- Attention to detail with strategic insight – balancing granular analysis with broad strategic impact
- Engagement & negotiation – ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives
- Proven independence – capability to operate autonomously in fast-paced environments
