About the Role
Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee
This role is dedicated to delivering exceptional claims service by accurately assessing policy coverage, investigating, evaluating, and negotiating complex Marine and Energy liability claims. Reporting to the Complex Marine, Energy and Political Claims Manager, the successful candidate will ensure fair and efficient resolutions while maintaining adherence to policy terms and the QBE Claims Philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the examination, evaluation, and processing of complex claims estimates and paid claims values, ensuring alignment with policy terms and QBE’s commitment to exceptional service.
- Drive the end-to-end management of a portfolio of high-value, complex, or high-exposure claims from notification through to settlement or closure.
- Develop and implement claim strategies, including investigation scope, expert appointments, reserving philosophy, and settlement approaches. -Lead and coordinate detailed claim investigations, engaging external loss adjusters, forensic accountants, engineers, surveyors, and legal counsels as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insureds, agents, service providers, and the public.
- Assess and secure recoverable amounts, ensuring timely and effective follow-up, while approving significant claims within written authority levels.
- Support the implementation and communication of the overall claims strategy to meet business targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by developing and refining strategic processes and procedures within the claims operation.
- Participate in forecasting claims activity through surveillance of business trends and claims environments.
- Ensure efficient handling of one’s assigned caseload for timely and effective claims resolution.
- Act as a mentor and coach to junior colleagues, reinforcing best practices in claim management and leadership behaviours.

Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of Marine and Energy liability insurance.
- Proven experience in managing complex or high-value claims.
- Strong investigative skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Current awareness of compliance, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability in relationship management at multiple levels.
- Capability to produce management information and detailed reports.
- Must have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
