Senior Claims Specialist (Major & Complex Liability Claims)


Job Summary

This is a great opportunity for someone who has significant experience managing complex liability claims and is looking to utilise their technical expertise to influence outcomes on some of Aviva's most challenging cases. Ideal candidates may currently handle high-value Employers' Liability, Public and Product Liability claims, with the ambition to expand their role within a highly skilled team.


About the Role

Aviva’s Major & Complex Claims team specialises in managing some of the company’s most high-value and complex liability claims. This role focuses on supporting customers through difficult situations while ensuring the long-term sustainability of Aviva’s business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of high-value and complex Employers' Liability, Public Liability, Product Liability, and Third Party Property Damage claims from investigation through to resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, customers, legal partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver fair, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Drive technical excellence, improve claims performance, and share expertise across the wider team.
  • Strengthen indemnity spend management and ensure a customer-focused approach in all decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Major & Complex Claims function.

Skills & Experience

We’re seeking candidates who have:

  • Significant experience managing complex and high-value liability claims
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Employers' Liability
    • Public Liability
    • Policy wording interpretation
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience in delivering robust indemnity spend management while prioritising customer outcomes
  • Bonus points for Third Party Property Damage claims experience (not mandatory)
