Senior CAD Technician
Location: Manchester, UK
Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior CAD Technician to support the delivery of engineering design projects. The role involves producing high-quality CAD drawings and models, working closely with engineering teams to deliver accurate, compliant, and cost-effective design documentation.
The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary engineering projects while ensuring all deliverables are produced in accordance with project standards, quality requirements, and agreed programme schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate engineering drawings and CAD models within project schedules and budgets
- Work closely with Design Engineers to develop design deliverables for assigned projects
- Prepare drawings in accordance with recognised CAD standards and engineering best practices
- Ensure all design documentation complies with project procedures and quality requirements
- Use document management systems to control and manage engineering documentation
- Apply standard details and engineering design standards when producing drawings
- Record and manage time spent on assigned tasks and assist with estimating drafting activities
- Minimise drawing revisions by maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy
- Support multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain effective communication with project teams and stakeholders

Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a CAD Technician or Engineering Draughting role
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Good understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Experience
- Experience using Civil 3D
- Experience using Revit
- HNC or higher qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with ProjectWise or similar document management systems
- Knowledge of CAD standards within infrastructure, utilities, or transportation projects
- Experience producing reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules for reinforced concrete structures
