Senior Conflicts Analyst – Onboarding Conflicts Team

Due to the firm’s growth and an ever-evolving regulatory environment, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused individual to join our Onboarding Conflicts team as a Senior Conflicts Analyst.

As a more senior analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring robust compliance with regulatory obligations by managing and mitigating risk. Key duties include performing comprehensive, end-to-end conflict checks on complex and high-risk matters, supporting the firm’s global operations and risk management framework.

Based across Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dubai, the Onboarding team is part of the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Directorate. The team delivers high-quality legal and commercial advice on conflict-checking, including:

  • Identifying legal, commercial, and contractual conflict risks in line with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (‘SRA’) Code of Conduct.
  • Researching, investigating, and advising on client and matter inception, including Information Barriers implementation, matter management, and engagement letter processing.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders and other Risk & Compliance teams to support effective risk management.

Conflict & Compliance Tasks

  • Conduct end-to-end conflict checks on complex and high-risk matters, ensuring compliance with:
    • SRA Code of Conduct 2019
    • Market Abuse Regulation (MAR)
    • Firm policies and procedures
  • Analyse confidential records and supporting documentation to assess relevance, materiality, and risk, providing sound decision-making on complex matters.
  • Escalate particularly challenging conflict issues to Senior colleagues or the Head of Conflicts for resolution.
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical queries from junior analysts, offering expert guidance.
  • Provide support to Team Leaders, including handling workflow management, resolving queries, and assisting with ad hoc tasks.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits of conflict search results, offering detailed feedback and reporting issues to senior management.

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Manage inbound team queries, including:
    • Information Barriers creation and maintenance
    • Client matter intake processes
    • Engagement letter processing
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Pubic law, compliance, or conflicts – Proven experience in handling complex or high-risk client onboarding within a law firm or regulatory environment.
  • Regulatory knowledge – In-depth understanding of:
    • SRA Code of Conduct 2019
    • Market Abuse Regulation (MAR)
    • Firm policies related to conflicts, client matters, and data segregation.
  • Analytical rigour – Strong research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to:
    • Assess documentation accuracy and material risk factors.
    • Apply critical judgment in deciding whether to escalate matters.
    • Balance multiple deadlines while maintaining high standards of detail and compliance.
