About Your Team: Centrica Business Solutions
We partner with 7,000+ organisations globally, helping them balance profit with planet sustainability. Key initiatives include:
- Building and managing onsite, large-scale energy assets like Solar PV and Combined Heat and Power to help businesses save money while saving the planet.
- Transforming the UK’s energy landscape by developing a 900MW portfolio of grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets, partnering with landowners and developers.
📍 Location: Any Centrica Office (Hybrid Working) 🕒 Full-Time – Permanent 💰 Salary: Up to £41,159
This role offers flexible working, aligning with Flexible First principles. It’s predominantly remote, with occasional travel to Centrica sites for project support, including potential overnight stays depending on project demands.
The Role
The Senior Construction Document Controller ensures smooth project execution through meticulous documentation management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and control all construction-related documentation (drawings, specifications, permits) to guarantee accuracy, compliance, and timely distribution for project teams and contractors.
- Implement and monitor version control processes to prevent errors and uphold governance standards.
- Coordinate document distribution across internal teams, contractors, and suppliers, enabling efficient project decision-making.
- Track and report documentation status to the Project Controls team, proactively addressing delays or risks.
- Manage archiving and retrieval processes in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, supporting audits and quality checks.
- Train project teams on document management systems and best practices to enhance compliance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with managers and planners to align documentation with project schedules and milestones.
- Support the wider Project Controls team with project-specific tasks, ensuring smooth operations.

The Person
We’re looking for someone:
- Organised, detail-oriented, and highly accurate with the ability to handle large volumes of information.
- Strong communicator who thrives in fast-paced project environments.
- Process-driven with a proactive mindset for maintaining documentation quality.
- Fully proficient in digital tools and structured filing systems.
- Motivated, dependable, and collaborative, with a commitment to compliance and high standards.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in document control, project administration, construction, or project management.
- Experience supporting large-scale projects or multi-stakeholder programmes is highly desirable.

Technical & Functional Skills
- Proficiency in document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of version control, governance, and compliance processes.
- Excellent organisational abilities with expertise in managing high volumes of documentation.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with construction terminology, compliance, and project workflows.
Business Knowledge
- Knowledge of project controls principles and the role of documentation in governance.
- Understanding of health, safety, and quality standards in construction.
Education
- Minimum GCSEs/equivalent required.
- Further studies in construction, engineering, or project management are desirable.
Certifications (Advantageous)
- Document control or records management certification.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Project management certifications (e.g., APM Foundation) are beneficial but not essential.
