The Role: Senior Construction Document Controller
Job Overview
📍 Location: Any Centrica Office (Hybrid Working) 🕒 Hours: Full-Time – Permanent 💼 Salary: Up to £41,159
Work Style: Flexible First, remote-heavy with occasional travel to project sites and contractor locations. Occasional overnight stays for project demands.
As the Construction Document Controller, you will be the central hub for all project documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless distribution. Your role critical to project governance, collaboration, and safe, efficient delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Document Management: Maintain and control all construction-related documentation (drawings, specifications, permits) for accuracy, compliance, and timely access.
- Version Control: Implement and monitor document versioning systems across all projects.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Distribute documents to internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Progress Reporting: Track and report documentation status, highlighting delays or risks for resolution.
- Archiving & Retrieval: Ensure proper documentation storage and retrieval in line with company standards and regulations.
- Training & Support: Train project teams on best document management practices and systems.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with construction managers and planners to align documentation with schedules and milestones.
- Support to Team: Provide additional support to the Project Controls team on a stipulated basis.
The Person We’re Looking For
- Organised, detail-driven, and highly efficient – able to manage large volumes of documentation with precision.
- Strong communicator – works seamlessly with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Process-focused – ensures documentation quality, compliance, and project efficiencies.
- Tech-savvy – comfortable using digital tools, file management systems, and structured processes.
- Dependable and collaborative – committed to teamwork and high standards.

Key Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in document control, project administration, or construction-related roles.
- Experience supporting large-scale projects or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) required.
Desirable
- Education: Further training in construction, engineering, or project management.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in document management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
- Strong version control and governance knowledge.
- Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Health, safety, and quality comprehension in construction environments.
- Certifications:
- Document control/records management credentials.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
- Project management certifications (e.g., APM Foundation) – beneficial but not required.
