About SWG Group
SWG Group is an established principal contractor delivering commercial, industrial, and public sector projects across the Midlands and Wales. We win work in a competitive market through disciplined commercial strategy, accurate first-principles pricing, and strong supply chain relationships. With a healthy pipeline of secured and upcoming projects, we are looking for a commercially astute estimator who values a structured, methodical approach to pricing and takes pride in producing accurate, well-built tenders.
The Role
This is an opportunity for either an experienced Senior Estimator looking for a stable and flexible environment, or a capable Estimator ready to step up into a more senior role. The level and package will be calibrated to your experience. You will work closely with our directors and Commercial Manager, taking ownership of competitive tenders built up from first principles. You will produce a clean, well-structured cost base that the commercial team then works from at adjudication, so that pricing decisions are made deliberately and with full visibility. We value estimators who own the accuracy and integrity of their numbers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
