The Opportunity
A leading property and construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join its London-based team. This is a client-facing role delivering a diverse portfolio of healthcare and NHS construction projects, ranging from refurbishment and estate improvement schemes through to new-build developments and complex capital works programmes.
The successful candidate will work closely with NHS Trusts, healthcare stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams, acting as the consultancy's representative on-site while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
This position offers the opportunity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working within a highly respected consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of multiple construction projects across NHS and healthcare environments.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the client, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Manage projects through the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development through to completion and handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, risk registers and reporting documentation.
- Chair project meetings and provide clear project updates to clients and senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design and construction teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Monitor contractor performance, programme compliance, quality standards and health & safety requirements.
- Administer and manage construction contracts, including change control, compensation events, early warnings and variations.
- Provide advice to clients on procurement strategies, project risks and commercial matters.
- Ensure compliance with NHS guidance, healthcare standards and statutory regulations.
- Support business development activities and contribute to maintaining strong client relationships.
- Undertake regular site inspections and proactively manage project risks and issues.
- Prepare and present project reports, governance papers and executive-level updates.

Profile
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering construction projects within the Healthcare sector, specifically NHS environments.
- Experience working for a recognised property and construction consultancy.
- Demonstrable track record managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong client-facing project management experience.
- Experience delivering projects from inception through to completion.
- Knowledge of healthcare estates, refurbishment, capital projects and operationally sensitive environments.
- Understanding of public sector procurement routes and project governance.
Contract & Commercial Experience
- Strong working knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Experience administering contract change mechanisms, compensation events, variations and contractual communications.
- Understanding of cost, programme and risk management principles.
Technical Skills
- Project programming and scheduling.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Construction Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related construction discipline.
- Professional membership or working towards membership of:
- RICS
- APM
- CIOB
- CSCS Card (desirable)

Ideal Background
Candidates will typically have worked for organisations such as Gardiner & Theobald, Arcadis, AtkinsRéalis, Turner & Townsend, Mace, Rider Levett Bucknall, Gleeds, AECOM or Currie & Brown but having experience working for SME's would also be desirable , delivering construction and capital projects on behalf of NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), healthcare providers and public sector clients throughout London and the South East.
