Description
As a Senior Consultant – Business Analyst at UBDS, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic change and digital transformation across our client portfolio. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong foundation in business analysis, who can bring specialist expertise in either business change/transformation or data-led project environments. You will work with cross-functional teams, enabling our clients to realise measurable improvements by aligning technology solutions with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Elicit, analyse and document business requirements with a strong focus on data-related initiatives, including governance, quality and management frameworks. Facilitate workshops, interviews, focus groups and other stakeholder engagement activities to understand business problems and user needs. Translate requirements into structured outputs using agile methodologies, including epics, features and user stories with defined acceptance criteria. Apply best practice techniques to model current and future business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, efficiencies and risk mitigation. Support the design and documentation of data governance and data management frameworks aligned to organisational objectives and industry best practice. Produce clear, accessible documentation to support stakeholder understanding and decision-making. Contribute to backlog management, including prioritisation of requirements and sprint planning activities. Support the development of options papers, business cases and recommendations based on evidence and analysis. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure requirements are well understood and effectively implemented. Support implementation and rollout activities across business areas, ensuring alignment with agreed approaches.

Requirements
Experience:
Proven experience as a Business Analyst within complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Demonstrable experience working on data-focused initiatives, including data governance, data management or data transformation. Experience working within agile delivery environments and multidisciplinary teams. Strong track record of stakeholder engagement and requirements elicitation. Experience in business process modelling and improvement.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles and data management practices. Proficiency in requirements gathering techniques and documentation standards (e.g. user stories, acceptance criteria). Familiarity with Agile methodologies and frameworks (e.g. Scrum, Kanban). Knowledge of the INVEST model for user story development. Experience or awareness of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (desirable). Ability to interpret and work with data to support analysis and decision-making.
Certifications (Desirable):
BCS (British Computer Society) Business Analysis certification or equivalent. Agile certification (e.g. Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)). Relevant data or analytics certifications (desirable).
