Senior Business Consultant – Commerce Ecosystems (Fixed Term 12 Month Contract)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary Senior Business Consultant to lead our Business Services consultancy solutions on a fixed-term contract (12 months). This role is both high-impact and transformative:
- Serve as a trusted leader and mentor, guiding clients and internal teams toward breakthrough success.
- Shape the future of commerce ecosystem solutions by driving strategic outcomes.
- Deliver cross-functional excellence while embodying VML’s people-first culture, fostering collaboration and growth.

Core Responsibilities
1. Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Lead cross-functional engagements as the primary liaison for senior stakeholders at our largest clients.
- Develop trusted client relationships by deeply understanding their business challenges and growth objectives.
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand relationships and generate new business.
- Unpick client complexities rapidly to determine support needs and realise unstated opportunities outside awards.

2. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and empower junior consultants, cultivating a high-performing, collaborative culture.
- Inspire team ownership, skill growth, and adaptability for complex challenges.
- Promote knowledge sharing, best practices, and cross-organisational alignment.
3. Strategic Consulting & Solution Delivery
- Leverage expertise in e-commerce ecosystems and sector-specific insights (e.g. retail, FMCG/CPG, B2B, automotive) to devise impactful strategies.
- Analyse complex business problems through lateral thinking, synthesising unambiguous solutions amid ambiguity.
- Technical fluency: Deep knowledge of frameworks like:
- E-commerce platforms: Salesforce Commerce Cloud
- Content/Customer data: CMS, PIM
- Agile software delivery methodologies
- Develop scalable frameworks and frameworks for efficient client onboarding and delivery.
4. Continuous Process Improvement
- Drive process optimisation to enhance team efficiency, output quality, and client outcomes.
- Track and adapt to emerging industry trends for competitive advantage.
What We’re Looking For
Core Qualifications
- 12+ years experience in e-Commerce, consultancy, or team leadership within sectors including retail, FMCG/CPG, B2B, or automotive.
- Proven sector expertise in solving large-scale digital and commerce problems.
- Leadership acumen to build, manage, and develop high-performing cross-functional teams.
- Disruptive problem-solving and strategic thinking to break down ambiguous briefs into actionable solutions.
Technical Competencies
- Operational e-Commerce platforms: Salesforce Commerce, CMS, PIM.
- Agile software delivery methodologies.
- Business Intelligence and _data-driven decision-making.
