Senior Consultant / Manager (Local Government)

We are currently seeking a Senior Consultant / Manager to join our Public and Health Services team with a focus on Local Government, ideally with experience in one or more of the following areas: adult social care, children and young people’s services, housing or employment. In this role you will play a key part in shaping and growing the advisory and implementation support we offer local government teams.

Your work will advise on, or help implement changes to, frontline service delivery, operations, digital platforms so that local residents are served effectively and efficiently. You will bring expertise, insights and knowledge of the local government and/or community provider sector, delivery of transformation as well as the Local Government Reform agenda.

The Person:

You will thrive in this role if you have:

  • 5+ years’ experience working with local government or community providers, either within a consultancy or in-house roles in the public or not-for-profit sector
  • Real-world knowledge and experience of processes, operations, compliance in one or more of the following areas (adult social care, children and young people’s services, housing and employment). Experience of Local Government Reform highly desirable.
  • Grounding in one or more of the following methodologies applied to local government services: Organisational Design, Operational Improvement or Change Management
  • Experience of supporting digital transformation would be desirable, for example designing, configuring or supporting implementation of technology solutions used for service delivery, funding processes or operational insights. This could include the use of Microsoft technologies (Dynamics 365, PowerPlatform, Copilot, Business Central, PowerBI …).
  • Commercial awareness and confidence in engaging with networks around business development and supporting the development of proposals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into clear recommendations and structured action plans.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence working at all levels of an organisation—including senior leadership
  • Experience managing and developing individuals, including coaching junior consultants, providing clear direction, and creating an environment where people can grow and perform at their best.

What can you expect from us?

  • You’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting engagements in multi-disciplinary teams delivering technology, organisation, and business transformation programmes with local government.
  • You will gain experience across a range of services, covering Strategy, Organisational Design, Operational Improvement and Technology implementation applicable to local government, as well as potentially the NHS or the housing sector
