Senior Consultant - Reinsurance Technical Consulting
Location: Hybrid (London-based, 3 days in office + 2 days remote) Company: Guy Carpenter (Marsh Business)
Guy Carpenter’s Client Support Services department is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Technical Consultant to provide expert guidance on complex reinsurance matters, working both independently and collaboratively across our hybrid global team.
About the Role
Reinsurance Technical Consultants act as trusted advisers, assisting clients and brokers navigate technical issues, claim submissions, and coverage applications. This includes:
- Advising on intricate scenarios, promoting technical work products
- Positioning contentious claim presentations for acceptance, collection, and resolution.
- Working in a high-visibility role with substantial ownership of client portfolios, where commercial judgment is key
Given the breadth of needs across our global client base, we are looking for a proven performer with a combination of consulting experience and deep reinsurance market knowledge—specifically in Pro Rata and XOL treaties.
Ideal candidates will be highly client-facing professionals with experience in either Property or Casualty exposures. Preference will be given to candidates with strong backgrounds in major treaty lines such as Property, workers’ compensation, auto, energy or casualty.

- Representation & Engagement
- Interface with the industry and represent Guy Carpenter at client engagements to deliver exemplary service and bolster company reputation.
- Leverage market expertise to drive continuous improvement in underwriting, claims review, and servicing delivery.

Risks & Mitigation
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance Departments to identify and address moderately complex risk exposures.
- Provide escalated update reports to Stakeholders on trends, issues, or potential risks to ensure proactive mitigation.

Technical Operations
- Present routine and ad-hoc technical information to Senior Management, fostering project transparency and success.
- Monitor and manage adherence to Client SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for deadline-sensitive tasks.

Technology Integration
- Advocate and drive operational process improvements for efficiency and performance.
- Input on software and tech tools for streamlined risk management processes.

Training & Development
- Provide instruction, mentoring, and career guidance to peers and colleagues in reinsurance servicing.
- Encourage knowledge-sharing through team meetings and cross-functional workshops.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in reinsurance technical consulting, preferably in Pro Rata and XOL lines.
- Strong background in casualty or commercial property—with knowledge of layered treaties highly desirable.
- Reinsurance market-facing experience required, ideally involving interface with insureds, brokers, or risk placement teams.
- Reporting or analytical skills: Compiling and presenting data-driven insights to promote client growth, retain market share, and address emerging underwriting challenges.
- Enterprise technology or workflow familiarity with any ERP or risk data platforms a plus.

- A demonstrated ability to enter challenging negotiation dialogues and problem-solve through senior-level discussions.
