Job Description: Senior Cyber Consultant – Cyber & Security Solutions Division
Salary Range: £44,171 – £63,000
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The provided range reflects the approved hiring band or a narrower range within it, benchmarked against market standards. Exceptions are approved through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Your Impact
Your role will involve solving customer security challenges in an agile, collaborative, and innovative manner, potentially following a hybrid working model (home-based with site visits at Leonardo’s offices for better team alignment and customer engagement).
Leonardo UK is seeking a Senior Cyber Consultant to support the Cyber & Security Solutions Division, focusing on:
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks
- Defining and implementing security strategies and governance frameworks
- Developing security policies, processes, and management plans
What You Will Do
As a Senior Consultant, you’ll adopt a six-step customer-centric approach:
- Relate – Actively listen and empathise with customers to build strong relationships
- Understand – Define solutions based on limited data using your expertise and experience
- Assess – Frame security threats through a risk-based lens, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Treat – Design proportionate, effective security solutions for people, processes, and technology
- Assure – Implement methodologies to assess and deliver confidence in security standards (people, processes, and technology)
- Develop – Contribute to new or improved product offerings for Leonardo’s customer sectors
You’ll support large-scale programmes, ensuring security excellence while working alongside consultants, engineers, and domain specialists.

What You’ll Bring
This role requires a passionate, proactive cyber security professional with:
Adaptable Core Consulting Skills
- Strong client relations management
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities
- Reliability in delivering high-quality work
- Teamwork mindset and collaboration skills
Certifications
- At least one recognised cyber security certification, such as:
- CompTIA Security+ (Sec+)
- CISMP (Certified Information Security Management Professional)
- CCNA Security
Demonstrable Expertise
- Ability to indirectly manage project delivery metrics (time, cost, quality)
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders while balancing empathy and communication
- A drive to safeguard critical UK infrastructure, with an ambition to grow as a cybersecurity expert
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members
- Strong understanding of risk management best practices, including:
- NIST SP 800-37, 30 (Risk Assessment Guidelines)
- ISO 31000 (Risk Management Framework) & ISO 27005 (Risk Treatment Guidelines)
- Developing/collaborating on risk management frameworks (e.g., establishing measurement criteria)
- Articulating risk-based security concepts in relation to threats and vulnerabilities
- Ability to evaluate, define, and implement security governance frameworks, including compliance standards
This is not exhaustive, but we encourage creative risk thinkers and strong collaborators.
Security Clearance
This Permanent role requires pre-employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional vetting checks may include:
- Security Check (SC) eligibility
- Developed Vetting (DV) requirements
