We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consulting Actuary to join our team.

The role is suitable for members of the actuarial team that are keen to pursue a consulting role and that have usually attained a Scheme Actuary certificate or act as lead consultant on some corporate projects. It may also include the role of a Team Leader, which involves working alongside others involved in Client Consulting, to ensure that all operational tasks within the team are conducted on a day to day basis and liaising with Partners to agree priorities. We offer excellent progression opportunities through to Partner.

Our services are designed to support trustees and employers by delivering pragmatic advice which brings clarity to complex issues such as investing assets, de-risking, longevity, risk management and the impact of legislative changes. We undertake a range of services for clients including full-service actuarial consulting, investment consultancy and standalone projects such as mergers and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consulting: Acting as the main contact, providing advice for a range of clients.
  • Client Team Management: Manage a client team, ensuring work is of a high quality and within agreed timescales.
  • Partner Support: Support Partners in managing client relationships, identifying any problems that arise (e.g. level of fees/ poor service) and helping resolve them as soon as possible.
  • Surveys and Data Analysis: Designing and managing surveys and using statistical techniques in order to analyse and interpret the quantitative data collected.
  • Client Meetings: Attend client meetings and identify ways that we can help our clients and report new initiatives.
  • Risk Assessment: Use of a variety of techniques and theoretical principles to establish probability and risk in respect of areas such as pensions.
  • Quality Assurance: Check work of other team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with scheme rules, procedures and legislation.
  • Client Advice: Provide advice to clients on how they might achieve their objectives while satisfying the requirements of relevant external parties (e.g. the Pensions Regulator).
  • Corporate Services: When leading the corporate accounting appointment actively look for opportunities to support the company with other relevant BW services.
  • Portfolio Development: Often this role will include working toward/developing own portfolio of Scheme Actuary/Adviser appointments or Corporate appointments.
  • External Engagement: Give external talks as and when required.
  • New Initiatives: Identify ways that the firm (including other practice areas) can help our clients and report new initiatives to either the Trustee or Corporate Consulting Board.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Proactive in managing and developing marketing initiatives and identify opportunities for new business, assisting in new business tenders and pitches.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
