The Role: Senior Consulting Actuary (General Insurance)

You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting clients across general insurance, with responsibility for both securing and delivering projects—spanning capital modelling, reserving, pricing, risk management, and actuarial/strategic advice for insurers and reinsurers.

A Day in the Life

As a Senior Consulting Actuary, your core focus includes:

  • Delivering high-quality actuarial support, from data analysis to model-building—presenting findings in clear, accessible language.
  • End-to-end project leadership: Setting priorities, coordinating teams, and ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Serving as a primary client liaison, answering queries, presenting insights, and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Methodology & model refinement: Reviewing tools, assumptions, and frameworks, providing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborative problem-solving: Working cross-functionally to deliver holistic solutions and share technical knowledge.
  • Business development: Identifying growth opportunities, contributing to pitches, and producing thought leadership/marketing content.

Requirements & Qualities

We’re looking for a nearly-qualified or newly qualified actuary with:

  • Proven expertise in general insurance (capital, reserving, pricing, or a blend).
  • Calm confidence in leadership: Strong focus on audit trails, governance, and controls.
  • Project delivery experience: Consistent on-time, on-budget execution against multiple priorities.
  • Consultant skills at their best: Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management.
  • Adaptability & agility: Thriving in evolving environments and client-driven demands.
  • Team-culture mindset: Being rapidly trusted employees with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to professional excellence.
  • Mentoring mentality: Willingness to coach and develop junior colleagues.
  • Goal-oriented: Natural ability to spot opportunities, develop solutions, and drive new business propositions.
  • Travel flexibility: Willingness to claim-related travel as required.
