Senior Consulting Software Developer
Senior Consulting Software Developer – Professional Services
Location: Remote or hybrid (with frequent travel to Gloucestershire area) Type: Full-time, permanent Employer: i2 Group, a Harris Computer company
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Consulting Software Developer to join our Professional Services team, working directly with UK clients and international partners. You’ll contribute to designing, implementing, and optimising i2 intelligence analysis platforms across their entire lifecycle—from initial planning and deployment to training and long-term optimisation.
Your expertise will ensure clients extract meaningful intelligence from complex datasets, delivering seamless collaboration and measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Implementation
- Collaborate with clients to develop bespoke roadmap strategies, including:
- Architectural design and implementation planning
- Server deployment, upgrades, and data migrations
- Performance tuning and system optimisation
- Apply end-to-end expertise across the product lifecycle to ensure smooth transitions and high adoption rates.
Platform Customisation & Integration
- Customise and extend core products (Analyst’s Notebook, iBase, Analysis Hub/Studio, TextChart) to align with client workflows and data requirements.
- Develop integrations with existing enterprise systems (e.g., CRM, EDRM, or other analytics platforms).
- Leverage hands-on coding to implement technical solutions.
Client Engagement & Requirements Management
- Gather, interpret and document complex business requirements.
- Translate technical details into user-friendly designs and configurations.
- Serve as a trusted partner to clients, explaining technical challenges in clear, actionable terms.
- Manage risks, stakeholders, and schedule progress effectively.
Performance Review & System Optimisation
- Conduct health checks and conduct performance benchmarking.
- Streamline and refine platform performance to enhance user efficiency.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve analyst workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and extend system maturity.
Knowledge Transfer & Training Support
- Lead knowledge transfer sessions and workshops to upskill client teams.
- Develop best practice guidance and training materials on i2 products.
- Collaborate with the internal training team to enhance the broader workforce’s capabilities.

Essential Requirements
This role is highly technical and demands both deep practical experience and client-facing expertise. Please apply only if you can evidence:

Coding (Hands-on essential)
- JavaScript/TypeScript/reACT – Must be a core part of your development experience.
- Intermediate-to-advanced SQL Server or PostgreSQL skills (with T-SQL proficiency).

Client-Facing Experience
- At least 3–5 years of consulting or professional services experience (minimum 2 years client-facing).
- Experience in intelligence, security, or government IT sectors is preferred.
- Strong confidence in translating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Commercial & Professional Ability
- Skilled in communications, negotiation, and requirements gathering.
- Must have the ability to manage stakeholder relationships to achieve results.

Security Clearance & Compliance
- Ability to access sensitive data complies with UK immigration rules (no sponsorship available).
- Will need to obtain relevant security clearances as a condition of the role.
Desirable Requirements
These attributes will enhance your suitability but aren’t mandatory:
- Application & Deployment
- Experience deploying or configuring applications on-demand on Windows/Linux systems.
- CI/CD awareness (e.g., familiarity with automated testing frameworks, pipelines, and tools).
- Additional Development Languages
- Knowledge of Java or C# is a bonus.
- Virtualisation & Containers
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Domain-Specific Knowledge
- Hands-on expertise with Analyst’s Notebook, iBase, Analysis Hub/Studio, and TextChart (e.g., data connectors and visualisation tools).
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Intelligence Studies, IT, or a related field.
- Certifications in business or intelligence analysis (e.g., PMI-PMP, CIA, CISSP, or cybersecurity evidence-based training) are not required but could offer advantage.
