Senior Content Designer
A full-time permanent role based in 7/8 Wellington Place, Leeds, LS1 4AP with a hybrid working model (minimum 8 working days on site per month, flexible up to 12 days, depending on role/business needs).
About MHRA & the Digital and Technology Group
The ** Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)** enhances public health by regulating medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.
The Digital and Technology Group (DTG) drives:

- Support for world-class services across the MHRA
User-Centred Design at MHRA integrates:
- User research
- Service design
- Interaction design
- Content design
This function ensures accessible, inclusive, and evidence-based digital services meet user needs and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
A Senior Content Designer will:
- Lead content design strategy for complex projects
- Ensure quality, coherence and effectiveness of content across user journeys
- Guide content-led teams within a regulated environment
- Champion user-centric, standards-led design while balancing regulatory demands
Positioned within the Digital & Service Design Function, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of MHRA’s content practice.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead and evaluate content strategies for large/challenging projects
- Use user research, analytics and data to align content with MHRA priorities
- Ensure accessible, inclusive and evidence-based content meets user needs
Quality & Assurance
- Hold accountable for content quality and sign-off accountability
- Manage publication risks in compliance with ethical/legal frameworks

Who We’re Looking For
Ideal Candidate Profile
A seasoned Senior Content Designer with:
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in user-centred content design methods, specifically:
- Creating accessible, inclusive and traceable content aligned with UK Government Service Standard
- Developing content strategies, information architecture or content models for complex systems
- Working effectively in multidisciplinary stakeholder environments, influencing adoption of UX and content standards
- Experience providing content leadership: coaching designers, sign-off, and adherence to assurance frameworks
Technical Skills
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in content or UX design
- Strong expertise in user-centred design approaches
- Practical experience with agile processes and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards

Selection Process
