About The Role

Hi, we’re Hippo!

We’re a digital service design consultancy who work closely with our clients to create digital products and services that work for everyone.

People are at the centre of everything we do. We support and grow the people we work with and come together as a community to solve problems.

We take a common sense approach to getting things done. We do not abide by dogma. We get things wrong and that’s ok. We learn from it and adapt. We stay curious and never stop learning.

About The Role

Do you enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams? Do you have great consultancy skills, caring about your client’s needs and motivations? Do you love creating high-quality, user-focused content?

We are looking for a Senior Content Designer to join the team on a permanent basis, so keep reading:

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design and implementation of content strategy to ensure our clients’ business requirements are met
  • Create and iterate content for end-to-end services, taking complex language and processes and making them easy to understand and use
  • Advise and support content design colleagues and other members of Agile teams
  • Use insights from user research and metrics to shape content strategy, and explain your content design decisions clearly
  • Be an expert in Agile delivery, identifying the best Agile processes for projects and measuring the success of outcomes
  • Work with other designers to create and iterate prototypes
  • Build long-term, strategic relationships with stakeholders
  • Run workshops with your team and stakeholders
  • Advocate for user-centred design, and content design in particular
  • Work with the hippo design community to share best practice to ensure high standards, including attending content crits and writing blog posts

About The Candidate

  • Have exemplary content design skills and experience of establishing content strategy and content design patterns
  • Have expertise in creating content based on evidenced user needs
  • Be experienced in championing user centred design principles and practices
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with your team and experts
  • Be comfortable working in rapid sprint cycles
  • Be a stronger presenter and happy to sell the benefits of content design to people who aren’t familiar with the discipline
  • Have a positive “can do” attitude
  • Have great consultancy skills, caring about your client’s needs and motivations
  • Enjoy sharing your skills and experience with your client to enable them to continue to iterate and improve content after you leave
  • Experience of working in an Agile workplace
  • Experience of creating and iterating prototypes

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Hippo Locations

We are headquartered in Leeds and have offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. We're on the lookout for top talent nationwide but you need to be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices. Given the dynamic nature of a consulting business, you may be required to work on-site at a Hippo office or at an in/out of town client location for a number of days per week (client dependent) and therefore candidates will need to be open/flexible to travel and working on one of those sites at least 2 days per week.
