Lead Producer - Weekday Breakfast Programme, BBC Radio Oxford
JOB BAND: D CONTRACT TYPE: Attachment / Fixed-Term until 31/03/2027, Full-Time
DEPARTMENT: BBC Local – Oxford LOCATION: Oxford (Office based)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,200 - £50,000 (depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience). Flexible working options available – discussion takes place at the offer stage.
Purpose of the Role
At BBC Radio Oxford, we are launching a brand-new flagship breakfast programme this summer and we need a highly creative, ambitious and experienced producer to help develop and deliver it. You must have:
- The drive and production flair to make the show stand out with high-quality content and a strong connection to listeners.
- A passion for on-air talent development—helping presenters reach their best to captivate Oxfordshire’s morning audience.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

- Prioritise audience needs, ensuring content remains useful, engaging and relevant.
- Maintain high editorial standards—focusing on quality over quantity and making strategic decisions.
- Leverage your production skills to inspire the team, elevate the show’s reputation, and establish market leadership in Oxfordshire.
Essential Criteria
Your Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing live radio production (especially breakfast shows).
- Expertise in presenter management, constructive feedback, and performance nurturing.
- Ability to improvise editorial decisions—reacting to breaking news and interpreting complex stories for a local audience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BBC’s editorial guidelines and broadcast law.
- Strong audio craftsmareness— vital for delivering stellar content consistency.
