Senior Contracts Engineer
Entry Level Site Agent (Civil Engineering Contracts) (Contract)
Overview
Accountable for supporting the management of site contracts, encompassing:
- Contract performance
- Safety compliance
- Progress monitoring and reporting
- Client engagement
- Design coordination
- Team leadership
This role ensures excellence in safety, quality, sustainability, and efficiency, aligned with the Business Management System.
While nationwide flexibility is expected, efforts will be made to align projects with the candidate’s geographical location whenever possible.
Site-based role
Package
- £60,000 per annum
- Company vehicle
- Working away allowance + standard package
Accountabilities
- Team and subcontractor coordination – Ensure effective resource management.
- Contractual compliance – Align construction activities with:
- Contractual obligations
- Design specifications
- Drawings
- Project Management Plan (PMP)
- Method statement development/review – Promote safe and efficient execution of works.
- Documentation management – Prepare and maintain:
- PMP, PVPMP, ITPs, and Work Package Plans (RAMS)
- Project planning & scheduling – Optimise delivery timelines.
- Productivity & delay monitoring – Analyse trends, recommend corrective actions.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) compliance –
- Uphold procedures as per project plans.
- Lead risk assessments and review.
- Promote behavioural safety initiatives.
- Progress reporting – Track milestones within responsibilities.
- Issue resolution – Proactively address engineering and construction challenges.
- Construction record-keeping – Manage O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
- Client engagement – Present in meetings and pre-contract discussions.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in the construction industry, specialising in civil engineering contracts (various scales).
- Strong communication skills (oral/written), across organisation levels and external parties.
- Proficiency in computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple teams and schemes efficiently.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- Valid CSCS card.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working with pilers, ground engineering, or civils subcontractors.
- Preference for a Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent.
