Senior Contracts Engineer – Sizewell C Project
About The Role
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Contracts Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team on the Sizewell C project in Leiston, Suffolk.
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ 3.2GW nuclear project, delivering clean energy to 6 million homes for 60 years. The Civil Works Alliance—consisting of Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke—is a unified delivery enterprise built on lessons from global infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Be Doing

Contract Alignment & Compliance
- Align project deliverables with process teams (estimating, design, commercial, procurement, plant, and operations) and monitor compliance using KPIs.
- Prepare and submit contract documentation to the customer pre-works, ensuring full approvals prior to site mobilisation.

Site Delivery & Accountability
- Provide site documentation and communicate deliverables to the site supervisor. Attend site visits for complex projects as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Maintain **comprehensive, tidy ** documents; review site records weekly to ensure compliance.
- Manage non-conformity close-outs and lead final account settlements (with commercial support).

Performance & Financial Oversight
- Daily performance monitoring with the project team to maximise margins, reduce costs and mitigate risks. Provide daily reports to the Operations Manager.
- Monthly financial reviews and, where required, weekly forecast updates. Oversee all contract expenses/costs.

Customer & Project Leadership
- HSE and sustainability leadership: Champion zero harm and support CSUK’s sustainability goals.
- Engage with customers to clarify requirements and ensure Ground Engineering needs are understood. -Audit project teams for business foffice compliance; capture improvements in strategy and management systems.

Support Work Winning & Process Improvement
- Assist bid documents by providing sequencing, constructability, and methodology insights.
- Foster cross-team collaboration with operations, preconstruction, commercial, plant, business development, and design.
- Develop innovative processes to enhance team output.
Who We’re Looking For
Success in this role requires:
- Substantial experience in piling and ground engineering operations and design.
- A recognised professional qualification (MICE or MIStructE or equivalent) and valid CSCS card.
- Proven ability to develop, manage, and mentor teams, while handling HR issues decisively.
- A technical and commercial senior presence: communicate ideas clearly to both internal and operational stakeholders.
- Presentational excellence and the capacity to originate new processes to maximise efficiency.
- Commercial acumen with practical contract knowledge and the ability to set, track, and refine performance targets.
