Senior Contracts Manager
Location: Bournemouth | Company: Pennon Water Services | Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 per annum
Pennon Water Services is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take full ownership of contract lifecycle management, ensuring governance, regulatory compliance, and delivery of commercial value across customer contracts, supplier agreements, and service providers.

As our Senior Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic business objectives by managing commercial contracts, driving governance excellence, mitigating risk, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the entirety of the contract lifecycle—from award through to renewal, extension, or termination. In this role, you will ensure:
- Contractual compliance
- Effective governance
- Commercial performance
- Adherence to regulatory requirements within the UK water retail market
You will establish reliable contract governance processes, oversee renewals and change control activities, and deliver contract performance insights to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, including renewals, variations, and terminations.
- Lead contract renewals and negotiations, ensuring agreements meet business deadlines and objectives.
- Maintain strong contract governance processes and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor contract performance, supplier/customer SLAs, risks, and obligations.
- Identify commercial opportunities to:
- Improve contract value
- Reduce costs
- Mitigate risks
- Produce contract performance and governance reports for senior stakeholders.
- Support procurement, tender activities, and contract audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including:
- Ofwat requirements
- MOSL Market Codes
- UK GDPR
- Internal procurement policies
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in contract management, commercial management, or procurement.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with experience in:
- Managing complex contracts and renewals
- Experience implementing contract governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and reporting capabilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements (utility or water sector experience desirable).
