Working Model: Hybrid
Location: Sea Containers House, London
About VML
At VML, we are a beacon of innovation and growth in an ever-evolving world. Our heritage is built upon a century of combined expertise, where creativity meets technology and diverse perspectives ignite inspiration.
Following the merger of VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson, VML has become a global growth partner that is part creative agency, part consultancy and part technology powerhouse. With more than 30,000 people across 150+ offices in 64 markets, we create connected brands that drive growth for our clients across Brand Experience, Customer Experience and Commerce.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our creative team, working across one of the world's leading automotive groups. While much of the day-to-day work sits within CRM, we're looking for someone who thinks much bigger than the channel. Someone who is highly conceptual, passionate about ideas and able to demonstrate this through their portfolio and creative approach. You'll help create customer communications that people actually want to engage with—from email journeys and direct communications through to broader campaign thinking and integrated creative ideas. You'll understand that every customer interaction is an opportunity to tell a story, build the brand and create memorable experiences. Working alongside Creative Directors, Designers, Strategists and Experience teams, you'll help develop work that's strategically smart, beautifully crafted and creatively ambitious.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop engaging copy across CRM channels including email, direct mail, SMS, MMS, digital experiences and customer journeys.
- Bring conceptual thinking to every brief, creating ideas that elevate customer communications beyond functional messaging.
- Collaborate with creatives, designers, strategists and client teams to develop integrated campaigns.
- Write copy that balances creativity with performance, delivering work that strengthens both brand and customer engagement.
- Develop distinctive brand voices across multiple automotive brands.
- Present creative ideas confidently to internal teams and clients where required.
- Ensure consistency of tone, messaging and storytelling across every touchpoint.
- Use customer insight and behavioural data to inform creative decisions without compromising the strength of the idea.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
