Company Description
Hume Health is a consumer health technology and services company built to give individuals greater ownership over their metabolic health and longevity, with the goal of measurably improving long-term health outcomes. Hume combines connected health devices, software, and clinical care programs to help users better understand their health, make informed decisions, and track meaningful progress over time. We are a fast-moving technology company with a global outlook and a strong execution culture, building a more personalized and data-driven approach to preventative healthcare.
Role Description
We're hiring in-house legal counsel to support building the legal foundation of the company. You'll be the first in-house legal hire, responsible for supporting Hume's growth by managing risk, navigating regulatory environments, and establishing scalable legal processes. You'll report directly to the COO and work closely with the CEO, external counsel, and the broader leadership team.
You will own the day-to-day legal work across the business and become the trusted partner teams come to with questions. This is a role for someone who operates with real independence - running your workstreams end-to-end while partnering with leadership and outside counsel on the matters that warrant it. It is ideal for a corporate lawyer who has already worked in-house, thrives on variety, wants a seat close to how the company is run, and is energized by building something durable rather than inheriting a mature function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Core Responsibilities
- Commercial contracts: Lead all commercial legal work — build and standardize the contract suite across B2B, customer, vendor, supplier, and partner agreements, along with the templates and playbooks that let the business move at speed.
- Compliance & risk: Build scalable legal and compliance processes and lead initiatives that keep the business on solid footing as it scales, with support for privacy and data-protection work across the company.
- IP & people: Manage trademark and IP protection and keep IP assignment clean across employees, contractors, and partners, and oversee employment, governance, and other core legal matters.
- Corporate & governance: Support corporate and governance matters across the business, handling day-to-day work directly and coordinating with external counsel on complex or highly sensitive matters.
- Public-facing & product terms: Own and maintain our terms of service, privacy policy, and product terms, and set clear standards and guardrails for company and product messaging, including substantiation for marketing claims.
- Hume Care: Support Hume Care as it scales — help navigate the regulatory environment around clinical and care-services offerings, and put the right legal frameworks and standards in place.
Qualifications
- US-qualified and licensed is required — you must hold US legal education (JD), active admission to a US state bar, and substantive US corporate experience. This is a firm requirement, not a preference; UK qualification alone does not meet it.
- J.D. from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials.
- A minimum of 6 years of practice, ideally as a corporate attorney at a major law firm and at a consumer tech startup.
- A practical, business-minded approach — able to balance risk, speed, and company priorities.
- Strong judgment and comfort owning complex legal matters end-to-end without close oversight.
- Experience managing outside counsel and driving workstreams forward independently.
- Genuine excitement about building processes and a function from the ground up.
