Job Title: Senior Corporate Legal Adviser

Salary: c. £70,000 (Dependant on Skills and Experience)

Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, minimum 2 days onsite p/w

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. Purpose of the Role & How You Will Contribute:

You’ll be the NFU’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) and main contact for Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation (PECR) issues for NFU and subsidiaries. This role combines strategic oversight with technical expertise, leading a small team responsible for delivering high quality legal and compliance advice, primarily in relation to data protection and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate and significant post-qualification experience, including strong expertise in commercial contracts, procurement and complex legal problem-solving.
  • A recognised data protection or privacy qualification.
  • Deep knowledge of GDPR and PECR.
  • The confidence and experience to act as a Data Protection Officer, providing strategic oversight and ensuring robust organisational compliance.
  • Highly commercially aware, balancing risk with business priorities.
  • Offering clear, pragmatic advice on emerging legal and regulatory issues.
  • An influential and engaging communicator, building strong relationships at all levels.
  • Experience of leading and developing a small team.
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical, accessible guidance that supports effective decision-making across the organisation.
