Cost Accountant / COGS Specialist

6-Month Assignment (competitive day rate) | Hybrid Working | Immediate Start

Our client is a leading UK technology business operating at the forefront of the energy transition and electric vehicle sector.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Accountant / COGS Specialist to join this fast-paced business on an initial 6-month contract to lead the improvement and optimisation of cost accounting, inventory, and related financial processes. This is a highly visible role offering the chance to make a significant impact, working closely with senior finance leadership to establish robust cost accounting frameworks and improve financial controls across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and enhance existing cost accounting processes and controls.
  • Analyse and improve Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting and accuracy.
  • Drive improvements in inventory accounting, valuation, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Identify process efficiencies and implement best-practice cost accounting methodologies.
  • Support the wider finance function with reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to improve financial visibility across the supply chain and manufacturing environment.

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong background in cost accounting, COGS, and inventory accounting.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or product-based business.
  • Able to quickly assess existing processes and implement improvements.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to operate independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
