Senior Cost Consultant - MEP

The Opportunity We are looking for enthusiastic individuals passionate about cost and commercial management to join us as a Senior Cost Consultant specialising in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing).
As a member of our Education sector team, you will deliver full-cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions and projects.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, and drafting procurement reports
- Applying value management techniques from the project outset
- Managing, estimating, and cost planning activities, overseeing the final cost plan and presenting it to clients
- Ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed
- Acting as a key interface between clients, stakeholders, and other consultants throughout all project stages
- Handling contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract
- Identifying opportunities to enhance cost management procedures, templates, and outcomes, improving client services
- Streamlining internal systems and processes for efficiency

Requirements
You’ll need:
- Experience and expertise in advising on contract administration, including JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) and NEC (New Engineering Contract)
- Proficiency in value engineering and life cycle costing
- Knowledge in capex vs opex cost analysis/advice
- Commercial insight into MEP standards, sustainability, carbon reduction strategies, and public-sector priorities
- Ability to apply industry best practices, multi-sector experience, and professional standards to achieve client outcomes
