Senior Cost Engineer – Offshore Wind Project

Location: London
Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Duration: July 2026 – December 2027
Hours: 40 hours per week

A new contract opportunity has arisen for a Senior Cost Engineer to join an Offshore Wind Project, supporting one of the UK's most significant renewable energy developments. This role will play a critical part during the construction phase, ensuring robust cost control, accurate forecasting, and transparent financial management across the project lifecycle.

The Role

As Senior Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for managing project costs from investment decision through to final completion, providing financial oversight and supporting key commercial and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Forecasting & Financial Management

  • Develop, maintain, and administer project cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate cash flow forecasts for the full duration of the project.
  • Assess and track the financial impacts of change requests and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
  • Provide analysis and insight to support informed project decision-making.

Cost Control & Risk Management

  • Monitor and control overall project expenditure.
  • Review, verify, and validate supplier, vendor, and subcontractor invoices and claims.
  • Ensure costs are accurately captured and aligned with contractual requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor financial risks, presenting recommendations to senior management.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Support monthly project reporting and financial performance reviews.
  • Provide financial information required for project finance obligations and shareholder reporting.
  • Monitor foreign exchange hedge positions and support hedge accounting activities.
  • Assist with OFTO asset valuations and regulated divestment transaction processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, delegation of authority requirements, shareholder agreements, and local regulatory procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong working relationships across project and corporate teams.
  • Deliver clear financial reporting and transparent performance updates.
  • Work collaboratively within a matrix organisation and international project environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Essential

  • Proven experience in cost engineering, project controls, or project finance within the renewables (ideally offshore wind) sector, construction, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial project management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational abilities.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Quantity Surveying qualification or similar commercial certification.
  • Additional European language skills.
  • Experience within offshore wind or large scale energy infrastructure projects.
