Job Title

Senior Cost Intelligence Consultant

About the Role

As a Senior Cost Intelligence Consultant, you will take an active role throughout all stages of a project. Working on large-scale infrastructure and capital programmes, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse clients, including those with high-profile projects, alongside construction professionals in multi-disciplinary teams. Independence of thinking, as well as the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, will be essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and deliver commissions in the areas of efficiency & value identification, assurance & continuous improvement, construction economics research & analysis, and general cost intelligence services
  • Have experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines:
    • Cost model and/or cost estimate development
    • Statistical analysis to support benchmarking and efficiency exercises
    • Business cases and cost-benefit analysis development
    • Defining business models
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through benchmarking and efficiency exercises
  • Possess analysis capabilities applicable to client and industry datasets to create data-driven solutions
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to mature and develop service offerings, providing practical solutions for clients
  • Assist senior management in preparing technical and financial proposals
  • Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments
  • Maintain high-qualityprofessional outputs

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Confidence in writing technical reports and delivering presentations
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of developing novel solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
    • Cost modelling
    • Cost estimation
    • Business case development
    • Cost-benefit analysis
    • Statistical analysis
  • Deep knowledge of or interest in the infrastructure sector and its advancements
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of coding languages (Python, R, etc.) is a bonus
  • Excellent decision-making skills with clear verbal and written communication
  • Practical knowledge of database development
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working with various clients and consultants
  • Experience in a consultancy environment, or contracting in a relevant field
  • Proven experience running large-scale infrastructure projects in Transport, Water, Energy, or similar sectors
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines set by clients and managers
  • Pride in quality and appearance, with a meticulous eye for error checking and demonstration of results’ validity
  • Ability to produce auditable outputs for client deliverables

Preferred Criteria

  • Defence experience
  • Degree in a STEM discipline (minimum 2:2)
  • Membership of relevant industry bodies such as:
    • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
    • Association for Project Management (APM)
    • Control & Skills Authority (formerly ACoE)
