Senior Cost Manager

Senior Cost Manager

Location: Manchester or Warrington

Working pattern: Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 days from home)

Salary: £65,000–£70,000 inclusive with car allowance

An established UK construction and infrastructure project management consultancy is expanding its commercial management team following success in securing major contracts with Google data centres, Scottish Power, and ongoing framework delivery with National Grid.

We are recruiting a Senior Cost Manager with commercial expertise to support significant infrastructure, energy, utilities and power-related programmes, based in either the Manchester or Warrington office.

About the Role This role is ideal for experienced professionals seeking exposure to nationally significant infrastructure projects while maintaining a flexible, hybrid working pattern.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage cost plans, forecasts, budgets and commercial reporting
  • Support NEC contract management, including compensation events, early warnings and change control
  • Review contractor applications, variations and commercial submissions
  • Provide commercial advice to clients across ongoing project delivery
  • Assist with procurement, tender analysis, and contract administration
  • Monitor and manage cost risk, value, change, and commercial performance
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Strong client-side or consultancy-side commercial experience
  • Proven experience as a Cost Manager/Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience with NEC contract administration
  • Hands-on experience in infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, data centre, or major built environment projects
  • Outstanding skills in cost reporting, forecasting, and change management
  • Confidence in engaging with clients and project stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to work independently
