Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join our London-based Developer Team, focusing on High End Residential projects.

Our projects range from complex refurbishments of listed buildings, social housing redevelopments, and office fit-outs to large-scale new builds. This diversity offers unique career growth opportunities, deepening specialist expertise while improving how cost management processes function across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

Project Cost Management

  • Assist with feasibility studies and procurement reports
  • Develop cost estimates and final cost plans for multi-million-pound projects
  • Manage tendering processes, including pre-qualification assessments, tender lists, preliminaryanalysis, and analysis and report generation
  • Track and address post-contract cost variances and implement rigorous change control
  • Conduct cost-check reviews and monthly valuations while ensuring investment accuracy
  • Generate and present detailed post-contract cost reports to clients/managers

Client and Consultant Engagement

  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimise project efficiency
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with sub-consultants and contractors
  • Interface with clients and consultants at all project stages, from proposals to closeout
  • Maintain trusted relationships while aligning cost projections with real estate market dynamics

Process Improvement and Risk Mitigation

  • Lead the cost management team and establish individual accountability for project objectives
  • Identify new business opportunities with existing clients to strengthen partnerships
  • Assist in the preparation of bid indicators and documentation for tender submissions
  • Improve cost management techniques, templates, and digital tools
  • Input key learnings and knowledge into corporate databases for ongoing project enhancement
  • Monitor financial systems FMS (Financial Management Solutions) and adhere to company accounting protocols

Specialised Compliance Commitments

  • Contribute to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance responsibilities where applicable to projects under review

Required Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
  • UK-specific cost management experience in the real estate/property development sector.
  • Proven work history on high-value infrastructure and property projects, preferably involving new build or fit-out programmes.
  • Outstanding consultative and client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to detect and rectify cost anomalies effectively.
  • Sound management and problem-solving capabilities.
